Donna Matthews Ledwell was born to the late Wilbert Matthews and Hattie Pearl Isley on July 13, 1961. On Thursday, August 11, 2022, Donna peacefully transitioned from this life to one of eternal rest at State Employee’s Credit Union Jim and Betsy Bryan Hospice Home of UNC Health Care in Pittsboro, NC.
She joined Emmanuel Fellowship COGIC of Siler City, NC where she was very active. She served as an usher and was a vital part of the music department as a Praise and Worship leader, where her voice will always be remembered.
She graduated from Asheboro High School in Asheboro NC. She united in matrimony to the late Clyde Ledwell Jr. on March 29, 1997 and to this union there were two children, Destinee and Jeremiah (Josh). She was employed with Chatham County Schools Administrative office in Pittsboro, NC until her health declined.
Donna was well-loved, very sweet, encouraging and soft-spoken. She was known by many as “Aunt Donna” and will be greatly missed. Many were also welcomed in her home with open arms.
She was preceded in death by her husband Clyde Ledwell Jr., father-in-law Clyde Ledwell Sr., his wife Dorthy, sister-in-law Dorene Mason and her brother Wilbert Matthews, Jr.
Her memory will be cherished by her daughter, Destinee` Soneke and son Jeremiah(Josh) Devon Ledwell of the home. Two sisters Cyndia Matthews of Greensboro NC and Teressa Pollard(Larry) of Randleman NC. Two brothers Bill Pryce of Charlotte NC, Brain Matthews(Ruth) of Clayton NC, Two brother-in-laws Bryant Ledwell of Asheboro NC and Mark Mason of Siler City NC. Stepmother Iantha Matthews of Sedalia NC and step-father Earl Isley of Snow Camp, NC. Aunts: Lovette Brown(Billy) Asheboro NC, Doris Ferguson (Willie) of Greensboro NC, Irene Monroe of Raeford NC, Ernestiine Harris of Carthage NC, and Rosanna Peguese of Laurinburg NC, a special uncle Charles (Ed) Ledwell of Asheboro NC. Five nieces: Kateria, Janelle, Tori, Zoie and Zaria and five nephews: Keishawn, Malcolm, Dee(Jed), Collin, and Zurie who will always remember her.
